The penultimate stage of the Bruksled is a short and relatively easy hike where you mostly walk along forest trails but also a bit on gravel roads.

The stage starts at Lillsjön and you enter Bredmossen nature reserve directly. Bredmossen is a well-developed arched high bog, overgrown with rocky ground pine forest. After a few hundred meters you come up on Bredmossberget from which you can see parts of the bog between the trees. The Bruksleden trail runs through the southern part of the reserve along a nice and easy-to-walk forest path.

About 1 km before Tråbacken you pass north of Bjurfors. In the Middle Ages there was an iron ore smelter here. It was blown down in 1660 and replaced with a brass mill. It mainly produced brass wire. Today, a manor house and a worker's residence remain at the Tråbacken stage destination. The dwelling was probably used by wiredrawers who worked in the Bjurfors wire drawing mill. The house contained 4 dwellings of one room each and had earth floors even into the 20th century.

REST AREAS

At Lillsjön, where the stage starts, there is a bathing area with large grassy areas and plenty of parking spaces. There are jetties, changing cabins, toilets, tables and benches etc.

BREDMOSSEN NATURE RESERVE

The purpose of the reserve is to preserve the bog area and the surrounding edge forest. The vegetation in the area should be allowed to develop freely.

The bog complex is dominated by a well-developed, arched raised bog with an almost continuous fen around it. The bog is interesting from a plant geography point of view because it lies on the biological northern border. It therefore contains both southern and northern species. In the north-eastern part there is a rich marsh with species-rich flora. Among the species growing here are grass wool, dwarf lousewort, scorpion moss and blood spoon moss.

The bedrock in the area contains alternating bedrock, greenstone and mica shale. Just south and southwest of the bog are a couple of prominent hills, Bredmossberget and Tjäderberget.

Remember that special regulations apply within the reserve (see the county administrative board's website for more information).
