Stage 10 winds its way through a varied forest landscape. The terrain is not particularly hilly so the route is relatively easy to walk.
You start at the lake Stora Acktjärn, a nice resting place where you can camp. A couple of kilometers southwest of Acktjärn is Muren. Muren is a scenic area with old pastures that are kept open through grazing and haymaking.
After about 2 km of hiking along forest trails, you come out on a gravel road that leads to the small village of Ulvsbomuren. Here are several timber buildings, built in the 19th century, and a loft from the late 17th century.
At the end of the village, you'll have to walk through a pasture to reach a cozy forest road on the other side. Eventually, paths take over again. Along the remaining stretch, the path goes through varied forest terrain and you pass several large bogs and wetlands. You also enter a fine pine forest where the ground is covered by large boulders of moraine.
At the stage goal Stenbjörnskojan there is a rest and overnight cabin. The cabin is a forest worker's hut with stables from the 1930s.
RESTING PLACES
At Stora Acktjärn, where the stage starts, there is a nice rest and tent area.
At the stage goal Stenbjörnskojan is a rest cabin. The cabin contains four bunk beds, with room for eight people. Outside there is a fireplace and benches. The site is not ideal for camping as the ground is rocky and uneven, but a site can be found.
