Circular trail
Rövallsrundan is a beautiful circular trail of about 19 km and follows selected stages of Bruksleden in the forests outside Surahammar. The loop starts and ends at Surahammars Golfrestaurang where you can enjoy a lovely lunch or coffee before or after your hike. There is also a large parking lot.
For those who like to hike a little longer, the round loop is an excellent day stage of about 5 hours active hiking time. For those who prefer shorter day stages, the loop can be divided into two days with overnight stays in tents, or in the charming and rustic Rövallskojan which has given its name to the trail. Rövallsrundan is also appreciated by trail runners who are used to more rugged terrain.
A hike along Rövallsrundan offers a fantastic nature experience. You walk mostly inside the forest where nature changes from coniferous forest to mixed forest and parts with marshes. You also pass the beautiful lake Toftsjön where you can take a break at the wind shelter which is beautifully placed next to the lake and has an associated fireplace. Along your hike you also pass through the nature reserve Rövalls- och Stingmossen where the view from Stingberget is one of the highlights.
The terrain along Rövallsrundan follows mostly natural forest paths. These are often root-filled and sometimes rocky. Bridges and footbridges take you safely over streams, rivers and wetter parts. The terrain is mostly flat but shorter hilly sections occur. The trail is graded as blue (medium) on the difficulty scale. An outhouse is located at Rövallskojan
To navigate your way along Rövallsrundan, follow the orange markings on trees and poles. These mark the mill trail that Rövallsrundan is part of. To avoid wandering on Bruksleden to Ramnäs, Västerås or Hallstahammar, you must pay attention at these three crossroads. To end up right at the crossroads, you should follow the yellow signs with the text "RR" that mark Rövallsrundan. Of course, it is recommended that you have the nature map app installed on your phone so that you can follow your position on the trail via GPS.
For those who have traveled a bit to get to Surahammar, it is highly recommended that you extend your stay in this charming mill town. The municipality's website for visitors has more information about what there is to see and do here. Luxury accommodation can be experienced at Schenströmska manor or Wirsbo manor. If you are more curious about accommodation in a genuine farm environment, we recommend Ulvsbomuren.
