Stage no. 5 is an easy hike that largely runs either along cozy little forest roads or nice jogging trails.

From the wind shelter, the hike begins with a small climb up Vargberget. The path winds its way between boulders and over rocks. A little before the municipal border with Hallstahammar you pass a wide ditch. In some places along the edge of the ditch there are traces of beavers.

You now come out on a small forest road that you follow for one and a half kilometers. Then the forest paths take over again and the trail goes through a cozy mixed forest where the ground is covered by blocky moraine.

The last bit up to Hallstahammar you walk along easy walking trails. The stage finish is at Hallstahammar's exercise center. Feel free to take a detour from Bruksleden and walk through Hallstahammar down to Kolbäcksån - Strömsholm's canal and the green and lush Skantzen area.

RESTING PLACES

At the start of the stage there is a shelter in a small clearing in the forest. There is a fireplace in front of the shelter. It can be difficult to camp here because the ground is sloping and a bit rocky, but a decent spot can be found.

HALLSTAHAMMAR

It's well worth taking a detour from Bruksleden and walking through Hallstahammar down to Kolbäcksån - Strömsholm's canal. In the 1770s, the canal company built several buildings at Skantzen in Hallstahammar in connection with the construction of the canal. Several of the buildings are still there today. In the green and lush Skantzen area, you can visit a canal museum that tells the history of Strömsholm Canal. Here you will find a working model of a lock, a tool museum and a small chapel. There are nice walking trails in the Sörkvarnsforsen nature reserve, the only large natural rapids area on the entire Kolbäcksån river, with beautiful hardwood forests and a rich flora. There is the possibility of angling here.
