Västerås- Mälarpromenaden

The Magical The meal walk is a 4-kilometer long marked walkway along the water, from Lögastrand to Lasse Färnlöf’s location. The promenade shows Västerås lake edge with wonderful restaurants and cafes along the way and views of Sweden’s third largest lake Mälaren. The tour is rich in history and smultron places!

The entire walk is signed and there are also overview maps in eight different locations. The promenade consists of a few gravel roads but is mostly paved. The tour suits everyone as it is accessible. There are several parking lots along the whole walk, which allows you to start walking wherever you want.

Lögastrand is a beach with sandy beach, playground, outdoor gym, jump tower and volleyball courts. There is also accessibility ramp down in the water. A few minutes from the beach is the Guesthamnen and motor vehicle parking next to the outlet of Svartån. It is about a 10-minute walk from the centre. At the guest harbour you will find Västerås Cable Park with wakeboard after an electric cable car. There’s a chance to see the riders in action and we can promise that it’s just as fun to watch as a ride.

The guest harbour is tied with a wooden bridge that takes you to The ferry where the popular Elba ferry departs from. This hop-on-hop-off ferry takes you to Öster Mälarstrand, Östra Holmen - the children's own bath paradise, the island of Elba and Johannisberg/ First Camp Västerås – The Parent. At Färjkajen you will find several restaurants to get something to drink, coffee or a meal.

Stroll further along the walkway and then arrive at the Pir28 marina. If you are surrounded by boats, you know you are right.

Next on tour is Skitviken, which is the artificial odd before the large steam power plant. Today you will find the BK Piren boat club there. There are some western sailors that fish, renovate boats and collect old mopeds. So pass the boom and listen through the Westmanland County Museum app, on the award-winning narrative "Skitviken - a rusty garden filled with life".

Continue along the water past the old steam power plant. In this beautiful building you will find both The Steam Hotel and Kok Point Actionbad. Take a sneak into the hotel to see the stunning interior, or possibly stay a little longer for a piece of food at one of their three restaurants. The focus is perfect for the family who want to experience Sweden’s first action bath.

A bit away from the old steam power plant you will find sculptures made by Joakim Ojanen. These artworks are placed on the coke plate as well as along Notuddskajen. Among the housing rights are The Poetry Park is the ultimate playground for children. It is inspired by Nobel Prize winner Tomas Tranströmer’s poetry and insect interest. In the park you will find a cable car, slide, stud carpet, vintage and fun water play.

Finally, you will arrive at Lasse Färnlöf’s location, which is a wonderful viewpoint on Mälarpromenaden. At this meeting point there is Bryggan's restaurant, Öhrman's conditory and shop 103 square. For those who want to go further, there is the opportunity to walk out to Björnö via Framnäs and the leap at Tegeludden if desired.
